How to Add Adsense to WordPress Using Google Publisher

This tutorial will guide you on how to add Google Adsense to your self-hosted WordPress blog. Over the years, experts provide us with many plug-ins to help integrate Adsense to WordPress, but none of them was officially released by Google except this new one called Google Publisher. It was released by Google on January 2014. With this plug-in, you can start making a living from your traffic blog just like every other dude out there. I love this plug-in because it does not feature only Adsense but also Google Webmasters Tools. From the perceived insights, Google will still add other useful services to it. As of the time of this post, the plug-in is still in beta. Which could be a guarantee that more amazing features will be integrated into it. Your trying of this plug-in could also help in making it better as your comments/feedbacks will be used to verify how effective the plug-in is. Hence, lets continue to the steps you will take to add this plug-in to your blog.

Steps to Add Adsense to Blogger
You can add #Google #Adsense to your blog by these two methods viz:
·         Ready prepared method: This method is recommended if you are looking for a way to integrate Google Adsense code into your blog operating under blogger. Because both services are products of Google, a widget was developed to easy the difficulties associated with adding Google Adsense code into blogger. It is also important to use this method because there is almost 95% guarantee that if you complete the integration using this method, you won’t have much problem as to whether the ads will display or not.
Steps to Use the Pre-Automated Method
1.       Login to your blog: To be able to insert your personalized Google Adsense code into your blog, you must login to your account dashboard.
2.       Click on “layout,” move your mouse to where you would like your ads to display (could be at right tab of the screen, bottom or top of the screen) and click on the add gadget option.
3.       A new hanging window pops out with list of gadgets you can add to your blog.
4.       Scroll down to “Adsense” and click to select.
5.       When the new page opens, enter your “Adsense Details” to login.
6.       Once you are logged in, you will have the option to customize how Adsense looks in your website. Remember to use the preview area on the down part of the window to see how your customized Adsense looks.
7.       When you are done customizing, “click ok.”
8.       For all changes to take effect, you must have to click on “Save Changes” at the top-right corner of the screen.
 ·         Manual Method: If you don’t like the previous method or maybe you are good in html, this option is for you. Though I recommend you use the first method above. Before you choose this second method, keep these things in mind;
a.       Your ads may not display because you inserted it at the wrong place (probably between another script/widget which will cause both widget/script to cease working or you placed it at an invisible container/placeholder). Hence, be cautious as you go about the process.
b.      If the copied code is not complete/broken, it can cause incorrect display of ads or can cause it not to display at all. Hence, take caution while copying to ensure you copied the complete code.
c.       Don’t make any changes to the code as Google might consider it fraudulent and could cause your ban from the program.
Steps to Use the Manual Method
1.       Login to your Adsense account: Using your Adsense Account details login in to your Adsense account. Click on “Setup” and customize the way you want the ads to display on your blog. (You can choose text only, only images or mixture of both).
2.       Copying the Code: After customizing the look and type of ads you want Adsense to display on your blog, click on “Get Code.” A box will pop out on the down part center of the page. Move your mouse to the box and right click (to avoid using click and drag for selecting the areas to copy), then copy the code.
3.       Pasting it on your Website: Open a new Tab/Window, login to your blogger dashboard.
4.       Click on “Template” (not layout this time). when the new page opens, click on “edit template.”
5.       Inside the box that contain your template (codes), scroll down to where you will like your ads to display and right click then choose paste. It is best to place the code between the
place your code here
space of your template codes.
6.       When you are done pasting the code, click on “Save Template” on the upper top of the template container.
Your Blog is now ready to display Ads from Google. NOTE: it can take some hours, a day or even more for Adsense to start displaying on your Blog.

Google Adsense. What you Should Know

Google Adsense is a program made available by Google to enable the delivery of Google Adwords to greater audience not only on Google sites but also on any other website on the web. As a Google Adsense publisher, you become an advertiser working without needing to do anything else other than to copy a code and pasting it on your website where you will like the ads to display. With the help of Adsense, you can make more money from your website and podcasts. All tasks associated with displaying the ads on your website and podcast-site will be taken care o by Google Adsense automated system. The much you will do is to signup, setup your account properly, and then obey all rules and regulations, terms/conditions strictly, as Adsense don’t accept excuses no matter how small/negligible.
Becoming Adsense Publisher

  •           Create an Account: Go to Google Adsense Website and follow the instruction/guidelines as you go through each step involved in creating an Adsense Account. NOTE: though you have some guidelines provided by Adsense as you create your account, you must keep these things in mind or you might lose everything.

a.       Specify all information correctly; unlike other accounts you create on the internet which you can input fictitious information, Adsense will eventually involve real activity (especially during withdrawal of earned money). Hence, you must specify real and verifiable details for you to be able to receive your pay.
b.      Some Information are not editable; The information that matters most to you as regards your Adsense account may not be available for editing once your account is created.
  •        Customizing your account: Once your account is approved, login using your Adsense details. Click on “Setup” by the left of your screen and start customizing how Adsense will look on your website/blog or podcast-site. During this option, you can choose whether Adsense will display only text ads, only images or to mix both of them. You can also select which part of your website the ads will display. I.e. on the left of your webpage, below the post or any other part.
  •       Copying the Adsense code: After setting/customizing your account, click on get code by the left of the page towards the end of the page setup options. Move your mouse the highlighted box and copy the code.
  •        Inserting the code in your website: Login to your website/podcast-site, go to your control panel where you will edit the “html” of your website. Once you have opened the html, paste the copied code where you want your ads to display (could be at the footer {recommended}, at header or at the side bar of your website. If you are operating under Blogger account, you can easily do that using the already provided Adsense integration widget.
  •        Withdrawing your earnings: If you reach your minimum payout (supposedly $10), you can request your pay in your Adsense account dashboard. Google Adsense will mail you a paper containing characters, login to your account and enter the characters on the mail you received. Once you have entered the correct characters, Google will now send you a check through your postal address. Take the check to your local bank and cash your pay. Don’t worry about how to clear the check in your bank because they team of experts will help you do that. Though might take some little time.
  •        Other things to keep in mind: In addition to what I added in step 1 above, be careful while working with Adsense because they are dedicated to ensuring the protection of their advertiser’s interest. These are few of the things you must be aware of

a.   Never click your own ads: Adsense will suspend or may permanently delete your account if their system records any click from you on ads displayed on your website. This is because they are committed to ensuring every clicks on the displayed ads gives their advertiser the impression intended. Don’t even think of testing whether the links are working or to know what the displayed ads looks like. Not even if you are interested in the displayed ad(s). Adsense will not handle any perceived slight of such actions lightly.
b.      Your family members should never click on your ads: Though Google is aware that you/your family members might be interested in the displayed ads, they consider any click from anyone in your household as invalidity click. Reason; because you can influence your household to click your ads in other to increase your earnings. Automatically, your earnings will increase but the advertiser keeps losing more and more money without any value/impression generated from it. Hence, it is better for you to search for any ad(s) you are interested in through search engine and not clicking on it directly from your website.
c.       Don’t encourage/persuade your visitors to click your ads: Google takes the issue of generating quality impression for their advertisers, hence you should never encourage your visitors, subscribers and other people like clients to click on your ads. I Google records extra-normal clicks from your website, they might decide to review the quality of clicks from your website and if they findings are negative, they might suspend your account or ban you completely. Thus, don’t recommend the clicking of your ads to anybody/organization. Not even on your e-mail newsletter, website, forums, social media and/or any other place.
Someone was kicked out of Adsense because the mother dedicated her time clicking ads in other to increase the son’s earnings not considering the fact that someone is losing some had earned money to her son which are some of the things that Google takes into consideration.

Play safe (you the publisher) and you will enjoy Adsense together with Google and their Advertisers.
