Google’s Blogger and Why I Choose It

Blogger as everybody know is a platform allowing individuals or organizations share information that could be personally oriented on the web and is made available by Google. Blogger simply is the mouthpiece of anyone/everyone. It is particularly made to help the least person out there who might never have the opportunity to express his / her opinion on other platforms. With Blogger, you can be heard from any part of the world and even more is the fact that if you provide quality information to your audience they will continually be waiting to hear from you every now and then. The more important thing about blogger is that it is free and from the look of things, there is no sign of paying to have access to it.

Why I Chose Blogger

•       It is free: Using Blogger is free. Everything you can do on Blogger is free and the only thing I know that involves money on Blogger is actually Adsense that is optional and is “only” meant to give you money and not collecting money from you. There are services you can choose from on blogger but all of them costs you no money (if you are ever charged, it might not be from Blogger but could be from your local services provider).
•        You can twist the template: other blog providers might allow you to make some changes to their templates but you will never have full access to tweak the template the way you like. However, on Blogger, the reverse is the case as you can do just anything you want with the template. Blogger gives you free access to do any way you like with the templates but all result (good or bad) is totally your own issue and not theirs. However, the even better part is that you can save/backup your template before making changes to it. This is important because you might do some changes that you may not be able to reverse yourself or that it will cost you more time trying to reverse some changes, in this case, you will have the option of restoring your previous template the way it is when you saved/backed it up.
•        Have few but amazing templates: Some blog providers will shower you with hundreds upon hundreds of templates / themes to choose from, but for me I think choosing from few best options will be better than being presented with millions of likely to be irrelevant options. Please understand my point here and see things the way I see them. If am giving the opportunity to choose from imperfect things with the privilege to try making it perfect and the option of acclaimed perfect object without the right to make any changes if I should deem fit, I very much think it will be better going with that which allows me to make adjustment or include something I feel more relevant to me. Don’t know what you prefer but in whichever case, you are the one to choose.
•        Accessibility: One of the things I like most on Blogger is the high level of access giving to every Blogger on the platform. On Blogger, you have access to different features of Blogger itself and to every other Google products all from one platform. As a Blogger, you have access to YouTube, Google Drive, Gmail, Google+, etc. Very important in these list readily Feedburner;

Blogger or WordPress, Which is Better?

Often times I see questions in argument form that tries to know the best between Blogger and WordPress. However, I think that is not the right question because both of them are very good depending on your primary purpose that you may want to accomplish using any of the two platforms. In most cases when people who claim to be webmasters tries to answer the question, they always get their audience confused the more. For me, I will not try to answer the question without trying to rephrase the question into something like; Blogger or WordPress, which is ideal for a newbie or professional, which is better for those with little budget or those that have enough to spend, etc. Why I am trying to make this point clear is because in most situation the people that asks these questions are people who are just starting up and they need help (capable hand) to guide them to the right part. Therefore, to guide them to the right destination, you must also teach them to know and ask the right questions at the right time. Ok enough emphasis, let us get down to the issue at hand.

For you to know the ideal blog service for you or your business, you first have to know how each of them works, their pro, cons, and the last but not the list is to know what you want to achieve from using them and also your capital density. If you have run a quick (preferably thorough) check on the above stated points, you can continue down the part to finding the best Blog provider for you. Note that one provider cannot provide all you need to succeed not even the both.

• ©     Free or Paid: Both blog providers allows you to use them free. So, am I stupid by asking whether you need free or paid provider? I am not stupid but there are reasons for that question but if you don’t get them now you will sort for them later. Here is why; one of them is completely free while the other is free to a limited extent. Blogger is as at the time of this write up totally free and with no intentions of making you pay for the services instead they made available program through which you can make money as a blogger. While WordPress is free to use just like Blogger but limits you to 3gb of storage (both for webpage, media contents and the likes) therefore when it’s filled up you will be required to pay a hosting fee, transfer it to your own domain or no more post on the blog, you will not host videos, no premium themes, etc.
• ©       Customizability / tweaking: The free WordPress can allow you to customize / tweak it the way it suites you but if you are a newbie you might not want to get yourself frustrated just trying to make it look the way you desire. Nevertheless, you can always choose that which you consider best for you. Hey, to use the completely free WordPress, you must have your own host and domain name that will cost you some token but if you choose to go with the not-totally free WordPress, you will not have the option of customizing it to your like. All these and more are fully available free of cost from Blogger. You can play around with the html, layout and just about anything that has to do with customization, Blogger offers that. Remember: All customization are at your own risk and that is one of the reasons why I will advice you not play with the html unless you are sure of what your want to do.
• ©       Mobile Accessibility: The ability of mobile devices to access your blog and it will retain the correct content available to pc users is also a point to consider. It is worthy of note that website traffic these days are characterized by mobile devices making it half-invaluable if mobile devices cannot access it. Therefore, we must have to consider carefully this option before making final say. Blogger is accessible by mobile devices but not as fully functional as intended and all inserted features are not displayed. For WordPress, I will not say much because I have not added heavy plugin / gadget to it but for the much I is that WordPress is more accessible with mobile devices than blogger. This how ever does not mean that mobile devices cannot access the basic information intended for them but it will be difficult for some large plugins to display properly on Blogger. But most of WordPress plugins are accessible using mobile. WordPress Admin Dashboard also can be accessed and managed using mobile device, a feature that blogger lacks at least not until you place an order for a very smart phone.
• ©       Search Engine Accessibility: You have to consider how accessible / visible your blog will be to search engine (crawler/spider) after you have launched it. The issue of how accessible your blog will be to search engines will bring up a point for concern on the way if you don’t consider them now. Therefore, try as much as possible to choose the template that will not hide texts and other objects that is important to search engines. Both Blogger and WordPress have nice templates you can choose from and you will not have to bother about visibility in hidden text wise.
